EBRL at Annual Cognitive Neuroscience Society Meeting 2026

(From left to right: Addison Cavender, Dr. Amanda Martinez-Lincoln, and Emily Harriott)

Earlier this month members of EBRL attended the annual meeting for the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS). Each year the Cognitive Neuroscience Society holds a meeting in the spring to gather top minds in the field of neuroscience to share the latest in research. These meetings are filled with guest speakers, symposiums, poster sessions, and awards. Academic conferences like these can be a key component in research; allowing researchers to connect with each other and challenge their preconceived notions. By all accounts, our PhD and Post-Doctoral researchers had a lovely time learning from their fellow neuroscientists and presenting their own research to their peers. This years CNS meeting was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada on March 7-10th, 2026. If you’d like to find out more about the Cognitive Neuroscience Society or their annual meeting, I encourage you to check out their website here. We might even see you at the next annual meeting on March 20-23rd, 2027 in Boston, Massachusetts!

EBRL Goes Down Under!

A scientific conference on reading hosted in Australia? Sign us up! Each year the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading hosts a scientific conference to gather minds from across the globe that each have one thing in common: the study of reading. This year, members of EBRL were lucky enough to go and even present! EBRL’s own Emily Harriott and Caden Carter were able to present posters and Andrea Burgess gave a talk. We always enjoy chances to meet other scientists in research and expand our knowledge. (And being able to do it in such a beautiful location isn’t bad either!)

If you would like to find out more about the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading, please visit their website here.

Congrats to Dr. Tin Nguyen on a Successful Thesis Defense!

As you may or may not know, the presentation of a doctoral thesis is a massive milestone for individuals seeking to acquire a doctoral degree. It’s the final great stepping stone before becoming a doctor and we are extraordinarily pleased to announce that EBRL’s own Tin Nguyen officially defended his! Tin is now officially Dr. Nguyen and we couldn’t be happier for him. All of us here at the lab can’t wait to see where he goes from here.

You can learn a little about Dr. Nguyen’s thesis from his flyer here: (You can also send him an email. If there’s one thing we love talking about is research!)

Three Cheers for Katherine Aboud for the Successful Defense of her Dissertation!

On October the 22nd, (very soon to be Doctor) Katherine Aboud successfully defended her thesis dissertation to a crowd of both EBRL members, members of the public, and her committee members alike! We couldn’t be happier for her and are more than excited to continue to see her excel! A long time member of EBRL, Katherine will be continuing her stellar work with us as a post-doctoral fellow!
